Crostis

Walking along the crest trail that from Monte Crostis leads to Monte Valsecca, you can enjoy the magnificent view embracing most of the Main Carnic Chain. The crest environment is marked by outcropping volcanic rocks dating back to the middle Carboniferous period and studding, with their green and reddish hues, the pastures and meadows covered with the typical Alpine flowers.

Comeglians (Ud)

The “Panoramica delle Vette” road (i.e. panoramic road of peaks) begins in Tualis (Comeglians). After the ascent, you leave the Chiadinis Alta hut downhill and, after around 700 m, you come in sight of Malga Crostis. Beginning from Ravascletto you follow the “Panoramica delle Vette” road up to the highest altitudes, then you continue your trip for slightly more than 6 km until you reach the Alpine farm. (We recommend gathering information at the Technical Offices of the municipalities of Comeglians or Ravascletto as to the accessibility of the roads described above: travel directions).

And then...

From Chiadinis Alta, through a mule track (CAI trail no. 151) you can reach the peak of Monte Crostis (2,250 m) and from here climb down to Givigliana di Rigolato or, along a very challenging trail (CAI trail no. 174), through the Plumbs pass, reach the Marinelli shelter.

In Givigliana di Rigolato, the notable belfry, built in 1951 but decorated in 2002 with graffiti-style frescoes, shows rural scenes from the past: the voices, the cow, the wood, the hay, the potato field, the tavern, the church, the family and the hearth.

In Comeglians the typical Carnic hamlet dating back to the 17th/18th century stands out for its peculiar architecture.

In Ravascletto, an important summer and winter tourist centre, the church of San Giovanni in Campivolo, which is embellished by a painting depicting Saint John the Evangelist made by Ignaz Baldauf, a German painter from the 18th century, the parish church of Zovello dating back to the 14th century and the parish church of San Matteo Apostolo of 1718 are worth mentioning.
