Rio Secco

The pastures and structures of the Caserutte farm (1,419 m) and the pastures of the Conca di Aip are also part of the Rio Secco facility. The Aip valley whose shape resembles that of a trough – hence the Friulian name aip – is marked by a threshold that climbs several metres above the valley floor, from which waters flow through deep karst ponors.

Rural tourism. You can taste the products of the farm throughout the grazing period.

And then...

From the farm, you can reach the Cason di Lanza hut, while passing by the Caserute farm, then descend to Paularo through the Valbertat Bassa, Meledis Bassa, and Ramaz pastures.

Stopping over in Pontebba you can admire the Flügelaltar, a wooden altar dated 1517 and kept inside the parish church, the awesome façade of the town hall, with precious frescoes and Severilla's gravestone, dating back to the Roman period, inside it. The bridge on the Pontebbana torrent, which marked the boundary between Pontafel and Pontebba (Austria and Republic of Venice) was rebuilt in the 50s, after it broke down, but the original bridge dated back to 1442. Princes, kings and celebrities crossed it, among them, Giosuè Carducci in 1885. With the end of the Great War it lost its function when the border was moved to Coccau. Other buildings of great historical significance are: Casa Micossi (18th century), Gaspero Rizzi's House (17th century), Casa Brunetti Bonfioli de' Cavalcabò (19th century), Casa Schiavi (19th century), and Casa Micossi Nassimbeni (19th century). In Piazza Garibaldi you can see the monument erected in 1969 and dedicated to the centenary of the birth of composer Arturo Zardini, famous for “Stelutis alpinis”.

On the other side of the valley, you can reach Paularo, with the Palazzo Calice-Screm, the Palazzo Fabiani-Linussio, and the Casa Calice-Gerometta. The Mozartina – a small music museum with a refined collection of old instruments – can't be missed. Furthermore, for archaeology enthusiasts, the relics of a necropolis have recently been found in Misincinis.
