Pian Piagnon

The Pordenone shelter acts as a foothold to climb to the Campanile di Val Montanaia, a 300-m-high Dolomite pinnacle of a spectacular and wild beauty. The wonderful obelisk is part of the project "Meraviglia italiana" (Italian wonder).

Cimolais (Pn)

Following the Cellina valley, toward the Vajont district, immediately past the village of Cimolais, you take the road on the left and go up the Cimoliana valley on a comfortable road. After crossing the bridge on the Compol torrent and going past the hamlet of Le Vizze, you continue along the recessed stretch of the valley; you pass the usually dry ford of the Cellina river and, shortly thereafter, you reach the Pian Pagnon Alpine farm.

Access to the malga: Easy (farm accessible by car)

Rural tourism. You can taste the products of the farm throughout the grazing period.

And then...

The Cimoliana valley goes on and, along dirt roads and a few crossings of the torrent, you can reach the Pordenone shelter and later the Meluzzo Alpine farm. Most of the Cimolais area is part of the Parco naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane (Natural Park of Friulian Dolomites), which has been a world UNESCO heritage site since 2009 (List of world heritage sites).
